Sunday, July 13Celebrate Bastille Day in the City of West Hollywood. This year for the first time, West Hollywood, a young and vibrant community with a colorful and entertaining past will host the Bastille Day Festival 2008. In its seventh year, this event promises to be one of the City's best cultural events, with all-day festivities, spectacular live entertainment, international music, dance, food and wine from France. The event will feature a Parisian Waiters Race, street performers, Tahitian dancers, a Petanque Tournament, scenic and portrait painters, comedians, singers, dancers and a host of surprises amidst a delightful French setting of market vendors and sidewalk cafes. The City of West Hollywood through its Arts and Cultural Affairs Commission will present String Project Los Angeles in a concert of improvisation and jazz. String Project Los Angeles, located in West Hollywood, is the only school in Southern California dedicated to giving young string players the tools they need to discover their own musical voice by teaching them the art of improvisation. Tuesday, July 15This workshop is highly recommended for any non-profit art organization interested in applying to the City for an Arts Grant in 2009. This year the City is using an entirely new application process and the workshop will explain the new process, procedures, and application requirements. The Arts Grant Program supports the production, performance or presentation of art projects in West Hollywood that serve the West Hollywood Community. The City of West Hollywood and Outfest presents "Boom!" This event is supported in part by the West Hollywood Arts and Cultural Affairs Commission through the City of West Hollywood Arts Grant Program. The second annual Outfest Music Festival will showcase a diverse lineup of musicians from rock to hip-hop with an emphasis on indie appeal who appeal to a LGBTQ audience.
