The City of West Hollywood and LA Weekly present the multiple, award-winning
West Hollywood Book Fair that will take place on Sunday, September 26, 2010 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at West Hollywood Park, 647 North San Vicente Boulevard in West Hollywood. The West Hollywood Book Fair will feature fifteen stages with author panels, special guests and live performances, 150 exhibitors and writing workshops. The West Hollywood Book Fair is one of Southern California's largest, most eclectic literary events attracting readers and writers of all ages and interests. This year, the City of West Hollywood is celebrating its 25th Anniversary of Cityhood and the West Hollywood Book Fair will join in the festivities. The City of West Hollywood was incorporated in November 1984.
"We are so proud to again present our West Hollywood Book Fair," said West Hollywood Mayor Abbe Land. "Each year, thousands of participants gather in West Hollywood for a day full of unique book readings and discussions, and an opportunity to check out what's new and interesting in the literary world by meeting with book sellers, writers and publishers. It's a fantastic day for everyone, young and older, to celebrate reading and enjoy great books," continued Mayor Land.
The West Hollywood Book Fair will also feature diverse programming for all ages and interests including mystery fans; comic book lovers; kids; teens; Seniors; members of the LGBT community; poetry readings, storytelling and live theatre; themed stages, including a Ghost Story Telling Tent; political panels and a variety of other attractions. Panel discussions will include Latino authors; Hollywood celebrity authors; Russian-speaking authors; and many more. For aspiring and new writers, the West Hollywood Book Fair offers an array of workshops that include tips from industry professionals on subjects such as preparing for publishing, travel writing and writing the first novel.
More than 150 exhibitors are scheduled to participate in the West Hollywood Book Fair, including independent book sellers; literary non-profit organizations from throughout Southern California; small presses and arts and theatre groups.
Nathan Spoor has been selected as the 2010 West Hollywood Book Fair Artist. His commissioned work will appear on West Hollywood Book Fair collateral materials. Each year, a Los Angeles-based artist is commissioned to create artwork for the West Hollywood Book Fair. Nathan Spoor is an artist and writer living in Los Angeles whose work is currently exhibited in several prestigious galleries and collections worldwide. Spoor's paintings involve images of transition and growth; fluid narratives that chronicle a world rich with the mystery, joy, pain and delicate balance of personal and spiritual evolution. Spoor is an active participant in the art community, in the role as both a fine artist and art curator. As a writer, his work has been published in internationally-acclaimed publications including Juxtapoz, BL!SSS, High Fructose, Grand Central Press and The Surfer's Journal.
