The City of West Hollywood's Transportation Commission held a public hearing on the operation of bicycles and other non-pedestrian transportation devices on City sidewalks at its regularly scheduled meeting on Wednesday, August 15, 2007. The purpose of the public hearing was to develop policies which create a balance between the City's desire to encourage riding bicycles as a viable transportation option with the public safety issues created when bicycles interact with pedestrians and automobiles.

Public comment regarding the current and proposed new ordinance as well as the use of other non-motorized transportation devices including skateboards and scooters on City sidewalks was welcome. The Transportation Commission will consider all public comments in developing their recommendations to the West Hollywood City Council.
