Residents Encouraged to Participate in a Survey to Assess the Need for Community Development Block Grant Funds

Residents in the City of West Hollywood are encouraged to participate in a survey to assess the need for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds and other community development funding. The primary use of these funds are development of urban communities by providing decent housing, a suitable living environment and expanding economic opportunities, principally for persons of low and moderate-income. In West Hollywood, CDBG funds are used for affordable housing, residential code compliance, homeless services, residential and commercial rehabilitation and economic development programs and projects such as the West Hollywood Gateway Center.

A community meeting will also be held on Thursday, September 20, 2007 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at City of San Fernando, City Hall Council Chambers, 117 Macneil Street in San Fernando for those interested in additional information.

As a condition for receiving CDBG funds, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) requires the County of Los Angeles to prepare a 5-year plan. The plan assesses community needs and sets long-term priorities to address those needs over the next five years. Approximately $45 million in federal funds are received each year by the County of Los Angeles for housing and development projects.

The City of West Hollywood encourages residents to participate in the community input process by completing the resident survey form provided by the County of Los Angeles. The form is available at the County of Los Angeles Community Development Commission's website and can be submitted on-line by clicking here.

The surveys are available in English, Russian, Spanish, Mandarin and Chinese. If you do not have access to the internet, forms are available at West

Hollywood City Hall located at 8300 Santa Monica Boulevard and Plummer Park located at 7377 Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood. Hard copy forms may be submitted to the Housing Division on the first floor at City Hall.

Resident Survey Forms must be received no later than Monday, October 1, 2007.
