City to Host Series of Halloween Events

One of the world's most creative, outrageous and original Halloween celebrations begins early in the City of West Hollywood, as several events get underway over Halloween week. Get the festivities started early at the Intergenerational Pumpkin Carving, Halloween Youth Carnaval, Annual Doggie Costume Contest, Drag Race & Pageant and end the week at the 2008 West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval.

The Intergenerational Pumpkin Carving Contest will kick-off the week's ghoolish events on Thursday, October 23, 2008 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Rooms 5 & 6 at Plummer Park.

For a hair-raising good time visit the Halloween Youth Carnival on Saturday, October 25, 2008 from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on the Softball Field at West Hollywood Park. The Halloween Youth Carnival will include carnival rides, game booths, entertainment, a costume contest, moon bounces, candy and prizes. Everyone is encouraged to dress in costume for an evening of fun. Admission to the Halloween Youth Carnival is $2 per person.

The City of West Hollywood will again host the Annual Doggy Costume Contest on Sunday, October 26, 2008 starting at 1 p.m. at West Hollywood Park, 647 N. San Vicente Boulevard (south grass area). Registration begins at 1 p.m. at the West Hollywood Park office. Proof of immunization must be shown. Entering pets in the Annual Doggy Costume Contest is free. Winners receive crowns for categories including: Scariest Costume, Look-Alike (pet and guardian), Most Creative Costume, Most Colorful Costume and Best Costume. Prizes are awarded to pets in each category and a Certificate of Appreciation will be awarded to all participants.

The Annual Halloween Drag Race and Beauty Pageant will take place on Sunday, October 26, 2008 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the West Hollywood Park Library parking lot. The Annual Halloween Drag Race will award prizes to 1st through 3rd place finishers. High-heel shoes with a minimum of a two-inch heel are required to participate. Following the Annual Halloween Drag Race, the City will also host the 2nd Annual Beauty Pageant beginning at 6 p.m. Prizes will be awarded in the following categories: Best Hair; Most Outrageous; Best Pumps; Most Creative; and Best Overall. There is no registration fee for competitors and admission is free.

The heart of West Hollywood, Santa Monica Boulevard will once again pulse with excitement on Halloween night as hundreds of thousands of Halloween revelers are expected to flock to the famous boulevard for the notorious 2008 West Hollywood Halloween Costume Carnaval on Friday, October 31, 2007 from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.
