Mayor Jeffrey Prang Issues Strong Statement Against Sarah Palin Hanging in Effigy

West Hollywood Mayor Jeffrey Prang has issued a strong statement regarding the hanging in effigy of Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin as part of a Halloween display on a private residence in West Hollywood.

"I respect that we all have the right to freedom of speech. However, with that right comes responsibility," said West Hollywood Mayor Jeffrey Prang. "While these residents have the legal right to display Senator John McCain and Governor Sarah Palin in effigy, I strongly oppose political speech that references violence - real or perceived. Politics in America has become extremely polarized in recent years and we all have a responsibility to focus on our political differences in a thoughtful, and peaceful manner. I urge these residents to take down their display and find more constructive ways to express their opinion," he continued.
