About the artist: Maggie West is a Los Angeles based artist specializing in experimental lighting and post production techniques. Her surreal, colorful photographs have been featured in acclaimed publications and sources worldwide. West released her first photo book, KISS , in June 2015. The book was featured on a number of reputable art magazines and blogs. The release party for the book was held at the Ace Hotel in downtown Los Angeles and feature large scale projections of the work.

In 2016, West released several photo series relating to gender and sexuality. Her series Fluid , released July 2016, examined the beauty of bodily fluids through abstract macro photography of blood, saliva and semen. In November 2016, West had her first solo exhibition at Leiminspace gallery in Chinatown. Stand: A Benefit for Planned Parenthood featured select prints from KISS, Fluid and West’s upcoming nude photo book 23 . Stand also featured a large scale installation of 100 portraits of hyper-colorful portraits of Los Angeles based creatives who support Planned Parenthood. The show raised over 1k for organization and was featured in many reputable publications.

On Feb 9th, 2017 West will had her 2nd solo art exhibition at the Standard Hotel in West Hollywood. The exhibition, Flora , features several electronic, floral installations as well as large scale prints of macro floral photography, lit with West’s signature colorful style.

23 , West’s second photo book, was released April 26th during a book release party on the rooftop of The Standard Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. The party featured an art installation comprised of twelve lanterns floating in a pool on top of the roof. Each lantern showcased four images from the book and was illuminated by an internal LED lights. 23 has recently received critical acclaim in publications such as iD Magazine, Dazed & Confused, Paper Magazine, LA Weekly, Out Magazine, Cosmopolitan, Nylon Magazine, GOOD, Vice and Girlboss.
