Yom HaShoah 2025 – Remembering Victims of the Holocaust

The City of West Hollywood has a long history of commemorating victims of the Holocaust on the Internationally recognized Day - Yom HaShoah, which is observed as the day of commemoration for the approximately six million Jews and five million others who perished in the Holocaust because of the actions carried out by Nazi Germany and its accessories, and for the Jewish resistance in that period.

Many Holocaust survivors reside in the City of West Hollywood, some shared a legacy of survival, resilience, and responsibility by giving interviews for the Shoah Foundation Archive, the mission of which is to develop empathy, understanding, and respect through testimony.

Yom HaShoah Event is an opportunity to recognize and remember victims of the Holocaust and focus on preventing genocides and other human atrocities from happening again. The goal of our event is to make sure that the young generation becomes aware of the atrocities that took place during that time in Europe. By keeping the memory alive we will have a better chance of dark history not repeating itself ever again.

The program will feature:

  • Testimony and Q&A with Holocaust survivor Paul Kester
  • Film Screening of “The Last Survivors”
  • Memorial Prayer by Cantor Berkovich
  • Musical Performance by Dr. Dimitry Olevsky (violin), Cantor Berkovich (baritone), and Diana Volman (piano)
