This year Helix Collective Ensemble will present a musical program dedicated to the 80th Anniversary of Victory in Europe over the Nazi regime. The Ensemble will perform the greatest hits of the post-WWII era for the dance! Featuring music by Count Basie, Irving Berlin, Edith Piaf, and more!
Dance instructor Amy Lawrence will start the show with a short tutorial on dancing the foxtrot. Beginners to experienced dancers will be ready to dance away the rest of the performance! Join the dancers or take a seat to enjoy the performance from the audience.
The Russian speaking Advisory Board supports and continues the celebration of parents’, grandparents’, and great grandparents’ role in the war and re-confirmation of their status as family heroes no matter their military or civil defense rank, or whether they survived. Commemoration of the WWII Veterans has an educational impact on the community and younger generation. Victory in Europe Day marks the defeat of the Nazi forces and remembers the estimated 50 million people who died during World War II. The Russian speaking Advisory Board is also inviting members of the community to join the WWII Veterans, their family members and friends at the WWII Veterans Memorial in Plummer park to lay flowers and wreaths, share stories and remember those who fought on the fronts of WWII.
