Proposal:
Approval of a conditional use permit to convert the former Hudson House restaurant premises with outdoor dining and alcoholic beverage service to The Drake on Sunset “Where Great Food Meets Great Live Music”. Given the unique definitions in our Zoning and Municipal Codes, in order for a restaurant to feature more than 2 performers it must obtain a CUP as a live entertainment venue.  Hence this CUP application to allow additional performers; however The Drake will not be a traditional "nightclub".

The Drake in Laguna Beach is a premier intimate live music venue with a New York style supper club setting that has been remarkably successful since opening in 2019.  https://www.thedrakelaguna.com

Like its Laguna Beach counterpart, The Drake on Sunset will feature a thoughtfully designed live jazz, blues and R&B program presented in a sumptuous, stylish and intimate setting featuring contemporary cuisine.  There will not be dancing or a DJ playing loud music.  An expansion of the premises  and use to include adjacent space within the office building is being requested. Total square footage will be approximately 4522 sq. ft.
