Join the Lavender Effect and SoCal Flaggers for "I Love Flagging" a free day of music with DJ Daniel Van Olst and flagging in West Hollywood Park, located at 647 N. San Vicente Blvd. RSVPs are NOT required for this free event.
I Love Flagging is designed to celebrate community connection while introducing newcomers to the art of flagging, a colorful dance practice rooted in queer club culture. Flags and expert coaching will be provided, with beginners encouraged to participate.
Queer flagging emerged in gay clubs in the late 1970s and early 1980s, when dancers used large, flowing flags to energize dance floors at discos such as Studio One. The practice became both a visual spectacle and a form of expression within LGBTQ+ nightlife.
We invite you to celebrate love, creativity and shared history through movement and music.
This event is Co-Sponsored by the City of West Hollywood.
