The Silence Between Lines: A Journey Completed by Hedy Torres

The Silence Between Lines: A Journey Completed is a live public art performance by Los Angeles–based artist Hedy Torres. Begun in 2016 with interviews of DACA recipients, the project features five unfinished charcoal portraits reflecting immigration uncertainty. After one participant gained permanent residency in 2024, Torres will complete his portrait live while engaging in a recorded conversation with him and the audience. The work explores migration, identity, and the emotional weight of legal limbo. The audience will sit in the round, watching a live portrait drawing session take place.
