The City of West Hollywood has several parks and a swimming pool. West Hollywood and Plummer Park facilities are available for recreational events, community meetings, and sports activities. Kings Road Park is reservable for community events Monday through Saturday on a limited basis. No bookings are accepted for Sundays. All park facilities are open seven days a week, with the exceptions of holidays. Call the park offices for details.

 

Executive Order No. 2020-7

A. The closure of city parks and dog parks in Executive Order 2020-2 is lifted and the city parks and parklets may reopen to the public, subject to compliance with the following guidelines:

  1. Physical distancing of 6 feet between groups that are not part of the same household is required. Avoid crowded areas. Due to physical distancing requirements, organized group fitness classes and personal training sessions are not permitted in city parks.
  2. Face coverings are required in accordance with Executive Order 2020-3.
  3. Water fountains shall remain closed. Members of the public are encouraged to bring water from home.
  4. Bathrooms will remain closed. Members of the public are encouraged to bring hand sanitizer or a zip bag with soapy water and wash cloth to wash hands before and after using the park.
  5. All personal items and trash shall be removed before leaving the park.
  6. Playground and exercise equipment shall remain closed.

Closure of West Hollywood Park Auditorium

At the City Council meeting on Monday, May 18, 2020, the City of West Hollywood City Council unanimously agreed to expedite the construction project of Phase II of the West Hollywood Park Master Plan. The West Hollywood Park Auditorium and West Hollywood Aquatic Center will be torn down and enter the construction phase earlier than previously planned. This action will take approximately 9 months off the timeline to deliver the Parks to the community. The new Aquatic and Recreation Center is scheduled to open Fall 2021.

Dog Park Amenities

  • Off-leash dog parks are the result of an intensive community design process
  • Two dog parks adjacent to the basketball courts.  West side of court is for small dogs, over 4,000sf.  East side of court is for large dogs, over 7,000sf.
  • Specially formulated K9 artificial turf for dogs. Environmentally safe. No rubber infill.  Designed to stay cool and not burn doggie paws.
  • Dog parks are fenced, gated, have new seat benches, dog water stations and live trees and vines. 

Dog Park Rules and Etiquette

 Executive Order No. 2020-7

 Emergency Executive Order 2020-7 also permits the dog parks at West Hollywood Park and William S. Hart Park & Off-Leash Dog Park (Hart Park) to reopen, subject to compliance with the following guidelines:

  1.  Face coverings are required in accordance with Executive Order 2020-3.
  2.  Balls, toys, and any other shared animal equipment are not permitted.
  3.  Physical distancing of six feet between groups that are not part of the same household is required. Avoid crowded areas. 
  4.  Water stations shall remain turned off. Water and water bowls shall be brought from home.
  5.  All personal items and trash shall be removed before leaving the park.
  • Dogs must be leashed outside fenced area
  • Cleaning up after your dog is required
  • License and vaccinations required
  • These are primarily a self-enforcing community.  Please respect Park Rules and encourage others to do so.
  • Use of the area is at your and your pet’s own risk. The City has no liability for injuries or mishaps associated with use of the dog park
  • You must always supervise and attend to your dog
  • All dogs must be leashed when not in the dog park
  • Keep dog treats out of the dog park
  • Refrain from bringing in more than three dogs at a time 

General Information

  • Dog Park hours are the same as the WH Park hours, open daily from 6:00am – 12:00am.  Some restrictions will apply and closures will be posted in advance of closing.

  • Necessary Maintenance Schedule:  The large dog park will be closed every Wednesday from 9:00am – 10:00am.  Small dog park will be closed every Wednesday from 10:00am – 11:00am
