The City of West Hollywood joins thousands of organizations across the country to recognize National Voter Registration Day on Tuesday, September 17, 2024. The day serves as a nationwide call to action, uniting communities throughout the nation to boost voter registration rates and encourage civic engagement as the foundation of our democracy.

It is the perfect moment to get #VoteReady for the 2024 General Municipal Election, which will take place on Tuesday, November 5, 2024. The deadline to register to vote the election is Monday, October 21, 2024. If you are unregistered to vote, register today. If you are registered to vote, it is a good idea to check your voter registration. The City of West Hollywood’s City Clerk’s office kicked-off the City’s recognition of National Voter Registration Day with a community-based voter registration effort at the Helen Albert Certified Farmers’ Market at Plummer Park on Monday, September 16, 2024.

At its regular meeting on Monday, September 16, 2024, the City Council of the City of West Hollywood presented a Proclamation in acknowledgement of National Voter Registration Day. An excerpt of the Proclamation notes: “The City of West Hollywood recognizes that voter registration is a fundamental step in the democratic process. Yet many Americans are not able to vote because they miss a registration deadline, do not update their registration information, or are unfamiliar with how to register. It is crucial to provide reliable, accessible, and transparent information and education on voter registration to safeguard the integrity of elections and to maintain public trust in the electoral process.”

The City of West Hollywood’s City Clerk’s office will host a Voter Information meeting on Saturday, October 5, 2024 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the City’s Council Chambers/Public Meeting Room, located at 625 N. San Vicente Boulevard. The meeting is free and open to the public. Attendees will be able to register to vote and there will be opportunities to learn about the upcoming election.

Two West Hollywood City Council seats and one ballot measure will be decided in the upcoming General Municipal Election. City of West Hollywood Councilmembers each serve for a term of four years and are elected at large.

All West Hollywood active registered voters will receive a vote-by-mail ballot for the November 5, 2024 General Municipal Election. The LA County elections office will begin mailing ballots by October 7, 2024 and ballot drop-off locations open on October 8, 2024. Vote-by-mail ballots can be returned by mail, at a drop-off location, at a Vote Center, or at an LA County elections office. Many Vote Centers open for early in-person voting beginning on October 26, 2024.
