Post Date:October 04, 2024 3:50 PM

Halloween 2024The City of West Hollywood’s iconic Halloween Carnaval, one of the most unique Halloween gatherings in the world, returns once again in 2024. Halloween in West Hollywood is anticipated to draw many thousands of costumed revelers to the City’s Rainbow District along Santa Monica Boulevard on October 31. In addition, there will be Halloween celebrations at West Hollywood’s one-of-a-kind bars, restaurants, clubs, hotels, and entertainment venues.

The City of West Hollywood’s Halloween Carnaval is free to attend and open to the public. It will take place on Thursday, October 31, 2024 from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. on a one-mile stretch of Historic Route 66 along Santa Monica Boulevard between N. Doheny Drive and N. La Cienega Boulevard. The event will feature a stage at the intersection of Santa Monica Boulevard and N. San Vicente Boulevard with a live DJ set, food trucks, and thousands of wildly dressed people in Halloween costumes for a one-of-a-kind experience.

First launched in 1987, West Hollywood’s celebration of Halloween is rooted in the City’s diverse culture and community. Year by year, what became known as the City’s Halloween Carnaval grew into an annual gathering of phenomenal costumes, entertainment, culture, and self-expression with a myriad of observers, revelers, exhibitionists, and performers with many thousands of people in attendance each year. People come from all over the region – and, in fact, the world – to take part in the Halloween fun!

The City invites Halloween Carnaval-goers to get into the spirit and show-off costumes by uploading photos to social media sites with the hashtag #wehohalloween and don’t forget to tag @wehocity.

To ensure a safe Halloween Carnaval for everyone, the City of West Hollywood and the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station remind attendees about important safety guidelines:

  • For everyone’s safety, please leave young children and animal companions at home;
  • No alcohol along the route and no drinking in public;
  • No weapons;
  • No drones;
  • Clear plastic bags will be permitted.
  • Halloween Carnaval-goers remember: If You See Something, Say Something.

To support the City of West Hollywood’s bars, restaurants, clubs, hotels, cannabis businesses, entertainment venues, and more in hosting small-scale Halloween celebrations with patrons, the City has approved a process for review and waiver of special event permit and encroachment permit fees, as well as waiver of basic Los Angeles County Fire Department site plan review fees, for businesses in West Hollywood that aim to host events from Thursday, October 31, 2024 through Sunday, November 3, 2024 in celebration of Halloween. Interested business may submit a Special Event Permit application by the deadline of  Monday, October 21, 2024. For details, please contact the City’s Neighborhood and Business Safety Division at code@weho.org or by calling (323) 848-6437.

Halloween revelers are reminded not to drive under the influence; even one drink can impair safe driving. The City recommends ride-sharing services and transit options. To get to and from the Halloween Carnaval on October 31, the City’s PickUp and Cityline will run free Special Halloween Service to and from N. Sweetzer Avenue/Santa Monica Boulevard, which is walking-distance from the Halloween Carnaval. Cityline will run a Hollywood/Highland route from 5 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. along with servicing all stops along Santa Monica Boulevard between N. Sweetzer Avenue and N. La Brea Avenue (with the last eastbound boarding at N. Sweetzer at 11 p.m.). The PickUp will run a local route from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m. servicing all stops along Santa Monica Boulevard between N.
