Yom HaShoah 2026The City of West Hollywood will host its annual Yom HaShoah, or Holocaust Remembrance Day, commemorating the victims and honoring the survivors of the Holocaust. The City has a long-standing tradition of observing this internationally recognized day of remembrance.

The 2026 Yom HaShoah Commemoration will take place on Wednesday, April 15 at 12 p.m. at Plummer Park’s Fiesta Hall, located at 7377 Santa Monica Boulevard. RSVP is requested by contacting Tatyana Rodzinek at (323) 848-6826 or via email at trodzinek@weho.org.

The program will feature:

  • Testimony by Holocaust survivor Eva Nathanson
  • Musical tribute by Cantor Alexander Berkovich
  • Screening of The Tale of Two Sisters
  • Performance by the Hillel Hebrew Academy Children’s Choir
  • Candle Lighting Ceremony

Yom HaShoah marks the memory of approximately six million Jews and five million others who perished in the Holocaust as a result of the atrocities committed by Nazi Germany and its collaborators. The day also honors acts of resistance and courage during this tragic period in history.

West Hollywood is home to many Holocaust survivors who continue to share their powerful stories of survival, resilience, and responsibility. Some have contributed their testimonies to the Shoah Foundation Archive, whose mission is to foster empathy, understanding, and respect through firsthand accounts.

This annual commemoration provides an opportunity for the community to come together to remember those who were lost, honor those who survived, and reaffirm a collective commitment to preventing genocide and hatred in all forms. A key goal of the event is to educate younger generations about the Holocaust and ensure that its lessons endure.
