City of West Hollywood Celebrates National Bike Month in May

Post Date:May 05, 2026 1:12 PM

National Bike Month 2026The City of West Hollywood joins communities nationwide in recognizing May as National Bike Month. Established in 1956 and promoted by the League of American Bicyclists, National Bike Month showcases the many benefits of bicycling and encourages more people to give biking a try. Whether biking to work or school, riding to save money or time, pumping the pedals to preserve health or the environment, or simply exploring the community, National Bike Month is an opportunity to celebrate the unique power of the bicycle and the many reasons to ride.

To celebrate Bike to Work Week, the City of West Hollywood, in collaboration with the West Hollywood Bicycle Coalition, will host a pop-up on Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the West Hollywood City Hall Courtyard, located at 8300 Santa Monica Boulevard; bike parking and entry access will be available directly behind City Hall at 1085 N. Sweetzer Avenue.

The community is invited to attend to learn more about various cycling options, including Lime’s e-bike share program, other bike subscription programs, and ways to connect with the local WeHo cycling community. This year’s event will also feature bike check-ups and adjustments (costs of parts not included).

Cyclists who commute to the event and are interested in stopping by for a check-up are encouraged to pre-register for the service via this link: Bicycle Check-Up Pre-Registration Form.

Additionally, the Los Angeles Bicycle Coalition (BikeLA) will host a bike safety training at 9 a.m., and will provide guidance and support to the public who wish to demo Class I, pedal assisted Lime E-Bikes throughout the event.

Information will also be provided about the City’s many upcoming bike and pedestrian safety projects. The event will include made-to-order coffee, pastries, Lime promos, and giveaways, including free LED safety lights and bike helmets, while supplies last.

Light refreshments will also be available at a “Pit Stop” at the corner of Santa Monica Boulevard and N. Sweetzer Avenue for cyclists commuting past West Hollywood City Hall. Community members are encouraged to follow the City’s mobility and streetscape project pages on the Engage WeHo portal to receive information and updates.
