Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department West Hollywood Station Captain Fanny Lapkin was born in Mexico and grew up in Los Angeles, the youngest of five siblings. Having originally set out to become a pediatrician, Lapkin volunteered at the East Los Angeles Sheriff’s Station for seven years before deciding to join the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department to help people.
After the Sheriff’s Academy, Lapkin worked at Pitches Detention Center, North County Correctional Facility where she spent eight years. She then went to Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station where she worked as a Deputy for 11 years, having spent five of those years as a Community Relations Deputy overseeing the Station’s Community Academy there. She was promoted to Sergeant in May 2019 and began at the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station. She was promoted in 2022 to Lieutenant.
In August 2025, Lapkin became Captain of the West Hollywood Station.
