Joshua Schare serves as the City of West Hollywood’s Director of Communications, where he leads the City’s strategic communications, media relations, and digital engagement efforts.
As a member of the City’s executive team, Joshua collaborates closely with the City Manager, City Council, and more than two dozen departments and divisions to ensure clear, consistent, and effective communication across the organization. He also partners with key regional and local stakeholders, including Los Angeles County agencies—such as the Sheriff’s Department, Fire Department, and Department of Public Health—as well as community organizations like the West Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, Travel and Tourism Board, and local Business Improvement Districts.
Joshua oversees the City’s Media & Marketing Division and Public Information Office, leading efforts to deliver timely, accurate information to the media, manage multi-platform digital content and social media engagement, and produce programming for the City’s WeHoTV broadcast and streaming network. He plays a central role in advancing the City’s brand and public engagement strategies, supporting major initiatives such as capital improvement projects, as well as targeted efforts in economic development, urban planning, and the arts. In addition, he oversees the City’s film office, which facilitates television, music, and film productions and promotes West Hollywood as a premier destination for on-location filming.
Joshua joined the City of West Hollywood in 2013 as Public Information Officer. He was promoted to Division Manager in 2017 and appointed Director of Communications in 2022.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Politics and History from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and a Master of Business Administration from the Drucker School of Management at Claremont Graduate University.
