Induction cooking uses an electromagnetic field that transfers currents directly to the cookware placed on the glass surface. The heat is created from within the cookware itself; as soon as you remove it from a burner, the heating stops. The benefits of switching to induction include significantly reducing indoor air pollutants (carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, nitrous oxides) and faster cooking times.

Heat pump clothes dryers use heat pump technology to transfer hot air from outside the dryer to inside. This hot air flows through the dryer drum, sucking moisture out of your clothes. Rather than releasing the humid air through a dryer vent to the exterior of your home like a conventional dryer, a heat pump dryer sends it through an evaporator to remove the moisture and then reuses the warm air to continue drying your clothes.

• Southern California Edison’s Energy Savings Assistance Program: Income-qualified customers may be eligible to receive energy-efficient appliances at no charge or a minimal charge. 

• Energy Star Rebate Finder: Find rebates and offers by your zip code on Energy Star products, including split system heat pumps and central and ductless air conditioning systems.

Utility Assistance- Get help paying energy bills. 

• Southern California Edison Discount Rates: California Alternate Rates for Energy (CARE) reduces energy bills for eligible customers by about 30%. Family Electric Rate Assistance (FERA) reduces electric bills for qualified households by 18%. Both programs have the same application and only take 2 minutes to sign up with no additional documentation required. 

• Southern California Edison One-Time Bill Assistance: SCE works with United Way and over 80 community-based organizations, which help qualified customers apply for assistance. 

• Medical Baseline Allowance: This program provides an additional kWh of electricity per day at the lowest baseline rate to help offset the cost of operating medical equipment. For other SCE Assistance Programs, visit www.sce.com/residential/assistance

• Clean Power Alliance’s Power Response Program: Customers with smart thermostats or battery energy storage systems are given financial incentives for modifying their energy equipment use during times of peak energy demand.

• SoCalGas California Alternate Rates for Energy (CARE): Receive a 20 % discount on your natural gas bill if you qualify. 

• SoCalGas Past Due Bill Forgiveness: See if you qualify for Arrearage Management Plan 

• SoCalGas Assistance Fund: Receive a one-time grant of up to $100. 

Residential

• SoCalREN's Multifamily Program provides two ways to help building owners upgrade their property:
  • Technical Assistance: An energy and green building consultant will work with you to identify cost-effective upgrade measures for your project and connect you to applicable incentive Programs.
  • Incentives: Improvement incentives help offset the cost of purchasing and installing energy conservation measures, such as upgrades to lighting, water heating, and HVAC systems.
• The Switch is On Incentive Finder allows residential customers to search available incentives for decarbonization upgrades (heat pumps, water heaters, etc.) .
• California's Go Green Financing helps building owners explore projects, contractors, and lenders with great rates that upgrade homes to be more comfortable with energy-wise updates like solar + battery storage and energy-efficient appliances.
