The City of West Hollywood is embarking on an ambitious initiative to holistically weave technology into the fabric of the city and turn bold, progressive ideas into lasting innovations. The West Hollywood Smart City Strategic Plan provides the City a multi-phased roadmap to efficiently incorporate smart technologies into our urban infrastructure and leverage that technology to improve our citizens’ quality of life, health, safety, and economic prosperity, by focusing on projects that promote Sustainability, Mobility, Accessibility, Resiliency, and Transparency.
There are a number of new Smart City projects currently taking place in the City of West Hollywood, including the development of a municipal fiber backbone network, the acquisition and retrofit of light standards (street light poles) from Southern California Edison, and a cutting-edge Smart Bus Shelter project. Also in the works are public safety camera projects designed to empower residents and local businesses in improving their sense of safety and security, updated public wayfinding and parking signage, and cutting edge metrics for improved efficiency and greater public transparency. The WeHo Smart City Strategic Plan identifies opportunities for enhancements to these projects as part of an overall guiding plan to integrate new technologies and streamline additional WeHo Smart City projects.
A more detailed timeline of the progression of the Smart City Strategic Plan is available here.
