 Non-residential Commissioning Requirements

CALGreen Sec 5.410.2 Building Commissioning (Cx) shall be provided for all new non-residential buildings over 10,000 square feet.

Note: building less than 10,000 square feet shall only comply with Energy Code Sec 120.8(d) and 120.8(e).

Note: the following systems are exempt from CALGreen  commissioning, HVAC system, lighting system, and water heating system.

Before a building permit can be issued the following items must be completed:

The project shall have a designated commissioning agent (CxA).  The CxA shall present a their resume to the building official for review containing the following information:

  • Technical knowledge
  • Relevant experience
  • Potential conflict of interest
  • Professional certifications and training
  • Organization skills
  • Reference and sample work products

Complete WEHO Cx forms GRN-20 through GRN-26 and insert into plan check submittal documents.

The project CxA shall submit a copy of the OPR, BOD, and Commissioning plan for review.

The CxA shall create a web base “Issue Log” and provide the city with login and password information.

Add a note to the Cx pages of the project building plans that a copy of commissioning report will be presented to the Building Official prior to “Certificate of Occupancy” being issued.

When submitted all forms must be dated and signed.
