CORONAVIRUS UPDATE RE: OUTDOOR DINING, VALET METER, & VALET SIGN ENCROACHMENT PERMIT RENEWALS

Below is a summary of changes regarding the renewals of outdoor dining, valet meter, and valet sign encroachment permits during this unprecedented Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic:

  • Outdoor dining, valet meter, and valet sign encroachment permit renewals have been deferred until June 30, 2020. Businesses have until this date to pay for the renewal permit without any penalties being applied. If you have any questions, please contact Danny Rivas, Code Compliance Manager, at (323) 848-6424.

Valet operators are one of the business types that are required to obtain a regulatory business license prior to operating. A separate business license is required for each address where vehicles are received/ delivered or where a monetary exchange takes place.

Business License Application

Below are the links to the Valet Business License application and a sample valet route plan.

In addition to the requisite business license, valet operators may need to obtain an encroachment permit for any parking meters that they intend to use.

A valet sign encroachment permit is also required for any signs that valet companies would like to put on the sidewalk.  Please note that each licensee is permitted to place one free-standing portable sign on the sidewalk at each parking lot entrance.  Directional signs are not permitted.

Valet operators that wish to use parking meters for their business should speak with the Business License Officer (323-848-6437) about the application process.
