Did you know that improperly disposed syringes, hypodermic needles and other “sharps” can cause serious injury and create hazards in the community? In the past, people who self-inject have had problems properly disposing of their “sharps”.
To promote good health for all its citizens and patrons alike, the City of West Hollywood is continuing its FREE “Sharps Disposal by Mail” program for the coming year. Postcards can be obtained by coming to City Hall, 2nd Floor, Department of Public Works or by calling (323) 848-6375. Please be prepared to provide Proof of Residency upon request.
“Sharps Disposal by Mail” kits store used needles, syringes & lancets - and when full, are mailed to a facility that will dispose of them properly, as biohazardous waste. The original packing box also doubles as the mail-back box, with the postage pre-paid. This simple action will protect your families, sanitation workers and others from accidental injury by needles thrown in the trash.
