PRIDE HOUSE LA-WEST HOLLYWOOD PARTNERSHIP
Pride House is a venue welcoming LGBTQ+ fans, athletes, and allies during large-scale international events, such as the Olympic Games. Pride House stands as a symbol of inclusivity, acceptance, and celebration of diversity within the LGBTQ+ Community and sends a powerful message of acceptance to a global audience, encouraging societies worldwide to embrace diversity and eliminate discrimination.
Pride House International has designated Out Athlete Fund as the official partner organization to plan and deliver for Pride House at LA28. Out Athlete Fund is a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit organization that recognizes the need to advocate for inclusion regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, race, ethnicity or physical challenge. Its mission is to fight homophobia, transphobia and stigma in sports by giving Visibility, Opportunity, Invigoration, Celebration and Empowerment (V.O.I.C.E.) to the LGBTQ+ sports community.
As of November 2024, Out Athlete Fund has provided the City of West Hollywood with a proposal to host Pride House LA-West Hollywood in the City of West Hollywood for LA28. Over the next four years, Out Athlete Fund would like to partner with the City of West Hollywood to build the brand and awareness of Pride House LA-West Hollywood which will culminate with a 17-day event in July/August of 2028. Review and negotiation of the Out Athlete Fund proposal is in progress and the West Hollywood City Council will consider the proposal at a future meeting.
As of November 2024, the City has established an internal working group of key staff members, led by the City Manager’s Office, to oversee the planning, coordination, and management of impacts related to the 2028 Olympic and Paralympics. The working group’s primary objective is to ensure seamless preparation and execution of Olympic activations in the City of West Hollywood, while addressing potential challenges such as traffic congestion, security concerns, and infrastructure demands. Furthermore, this working group is designed to serve as a bridge to neighboring cities, fostering inter-city collaboration and communication and ultimately enhancing the overall experience for residents and visitors alike.
