Why Equity Matters

Equity is at the heart of how we serve West Hollywood. We’re proud to be a vibrant, diverse city where everyone deserves fair access to opportunities, resources, and a true sense of belonging. Equity matters because it helps remove barriers and foster growth. By centering equity in all we do, we build trust, uplift community voices, and create lasting, meaningful changes, together.

Citywide Organizational Equity Statement

The City of West Hollywood is committed to fostering a thriving, inclusive community where all people have access to opportunities, resources, and representation. We recognize that equity is a shared responsibility and an ongoing practice that informs our policies, programs, and services. Rooted in our foundational values of inclusion and advocacy, we acknowledge the systemic barriers and historical injustices that have impacted marginalized populations, including BIPOC, LGBTQ+, displaced, disabled and aging communities.

We commit to actively dismantle these barriers through practices and systemic change that prioritize meaningful engagement, resource distribution, and empowerment for residents and visitors alike. This includes empowering our city staff through equitable opportunities for development, decision-making, and active participation in shaping the city’s future.

Through transparency, accountability, and collaboration, we will address current and historical injustices and work continuously to build a city where everyone is seen, heard, and supported. Together, we strive to uphold equity as the foundation of our policies, practices, and vision for West Hollywood’s future.
