The housing choice voucher program (Section 8) is the federal government's major program for assisting very low-income families, the elderly, and the disabled to afford decent, safe, and sanitary housing in the private market. In West Hollywood, Section 8 is administered by the Housing Authority of the County of Los Angeles (HACoLA).
The City of Los Angeles’ Section 8 Wait List will be open for new applicants from October 16, 2017 to October 29, 2017. For more information please visit their website at www.hacla.org
In the City of West Hollywood, Section 8 tenancies are governed by the West Hollywood Rent Stabilization Ordinance (RSO).
Rent Increases are limited to the City’s Annual General Adjustment (AGA). The City provides a form to assist Landlords in calculating rents after applying the AGA. Beginning July 1, 2014, the HACoLA payment standard – the maximum amount a housing authority can pay toward rent – will be reduced, potentially resulting in higher out-of-pocket expenses for Section 8 voucher holders in West Hollywood. If you receive an increase in your monthly family contribution that is above your financial means, there may be supportive services available to assist you.
Section 8 Voucher recipients are able to transfer and use their vouchers to any jurisdiction outside of Los Angeles County where there is Section 8 program. Click here for additional information.
Federal and State fair housing laws require that Public Housing Agencies (PHAs) provide reasonable accommodation in their Section 8 rules, policies, practices and services if they are needed to help people with disabilities benefit from the Section 8 program.
Reasonable accommodations are only granted to individuals with a disability to remove disability-related barriers to housing. For purposes of reasonable accommodation, you are considered disabled if you are:

Comprehensive Services Center

The Comprehensive Services Center offers case management to seniors and people living with disabilities. In addition to case management, food programs and moving assistance may be available.
