ABOUT THE CHOREOGRAPHERS/CREATORS

PETTER JACOBSSON – Nancy, France

Born in Stockholm, Petter Jacobsson began dancing at the age of three. He continued his studies at the Royal Swedish Ballet School and later the American Ballet School, NYC with Stanley Williams. In 1982 Petter graduated from the Vaganova Academy in St. Petersburg.

Between 1982 and 1984, Petter Jacobsson danced with the Royal Swedish Ballet in Stockholm, the English National Ballet. In 1985 he was appointed Principal Dancer with the Sadler’s Wells Royal Ballet in London where he danced until his move to New York, 1993 where he began a career as an independent dancer, working and creating works with Twyla Tharp, notably he was part of the filming of her "In the Upper Room" for PBS and Canal+ channels. During this time he also collaborated with Irene Hultman and Deborah Hay. In the mid-90s, Petter and Thomas Caley began working together as a creative team, creating pieces for Martha@Mother, the Joyce Soho in New York, and the Royal Opera in Stockholm, "Staden," as part of Stockholm, European Capital of Culture, in 1998.

In 1999, Petter was appointed artistic director of the Royal Swedish Ballet in Stockholm, he was named Choreographer of the Year 2002 by the Swedish Society of Choreographers for his work in modernizing the Royal Swedish Ballet.

In 2002, they received a "Goldmask" for Best Choreography for the musical Chess with Björn Ulveus and Benny Andersson (ABBA). After years of collaboration, Petter and Thomas established an independent dance company in Stockholm in 2005. From 2011 until 2025, Petter was the General and Artistic director of the CCN – Ballet de Lorraine in Nancy, France. Where they created over twenty new works one being the social media sensation Discofoot. The CCN – Ballet de Lorraine was awarded best dance company of 2021 by the French national guild of critics.

In 2021 Petter was awarded the rank of Officer of the order of Arts and Letters by the cultural minister of France.

THOMAS CALEY - Nancy, France

Born in the northern woods of Michigan, Thomas started his stage experience with no singing or acting skills but danced with a fluid ease, in small-town local musical theater. At fifteen he enrolled in Interlochen Arts Academy's dance department, graduating in 1988. From 1988 to 1992 he attended S.U.N.Y at Purchase, graduating with a BFA in dance. The year after graduation he performed in independent projects by Ken Tosti, Neil Greenberg and Kevin Wynn while also maintaining scholarships with the Merce Cunningham Dance Company and the David Howard dance studio, NYC. In 1994 he became a member of the Merce Cunningham Dance Company, where he took part in eight new creations and hundreds of repertory revivals while also being fortunate to tour throughout the world. Mid-career with Merce, Tom started to collaborate with Petter Jacobsson, creating for, and performing in downtown NY theaters and the now mythic Martha@Mother. In 2000, Tom left MCDC to continue his work and life with Petter in Stockholm, Sweden where he had recently been appointed Artistic Director of the Royal Swedish Ballet. Their modernization of the repertory won Petter a prize from the contemporary choreographers of Stockholm. An exceptional achievement of their programming for the Royal Swedish Ballet, was the creation of two immense happenings, In Nooks and Crannies, 2000 and 2001. The project involved the Royal Ballet, Opera and Orchestra, as well as independent artists. All were asked to perform or create for the unknown, unusual or even restricted spaces of this iconic institution. In 2002 they received a Gold Mask for their choreography of a then new setting of Chess the musical in Stockholm. From 2002 to 2011 he also maintained an active freelance performance career in Europe. In 2005 Petter and Thomas decided to concentrate their efforts in their collaborative work, with the support of the city of Stockholm and the Swedish Arts Council, they created numerous works for a variety of venues throughout Sweden and internationally. From 2011 to 2026 Tom worked with National Choreographic Center – Ballet de Lorraine. Almost fourteen years of creating, curating and planning led to notably Discofoot, and almost 200 works, projects and events.

ADIE SAN DIEGO, Project Manager – North Hollywood, CA - @adiesandiego

Adie San Diego is a Filipina-American choreographer and dance artist based in LA. Her dance training began in Raleigh, NC at Carolina Dance Center under the direction of Lindsay Collins Shaw, Jennifer Culler-Moore, and Missy Blackburn. She holds a BFA in Dance from Point Park University and an MFA in Choreography from the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts).  As a dancer, Adie has worked with many renowned artists, including Joanna Kotze, Beth Gill, Yin Yue, and Helen Simoneau, among others.  Her movement derives from her diverse training in classical forms, street styles, and improvisational research in cultural narrative. Adie has been chosen as an artist-in-residence with the Asian American Dance Festival in San Diego and the Reef Residency in Los Angeles. Adie is also the founder of BALLET4LYFE, a series of beginner-intermediate level ballet classes for adults in the LA community.

ELOISE DELUCA, Rehearsal Director – Pasadena, CA - @elowah

Eloise DeLuca has worked as a performance artist in New York and Los Angeles for the last twelve years. She movement directed for Solange Knowles at the Solomon R. Guggenheim and toured with Devonté Hynes of Blood Orange. She performed and acted as dance captain for the First National Tour of Fiddler on the Roof and has taught at James Madison University, Sacred Heart University, Barnard College, and New York University. She received her Bachelor’s in Dance from California State University of Long Beach and an MFA in Choreography from California Institute of the Arts.

House Dow – Production Manager

House Dow (he/him) is a production and stage manager working primarily with experimental and process-oriented dance and music. Recent projects include esperanza spalding's Songwrights Apothecary Lab with The Music Center, Peter Hager's MARATHON: A Double Feature, and Theatreworks Silicon Valley's Come From Away (as lighting programmer). House has a BA from Bard College at Simon's Rock and an MFA from California Institute of the Arts.

DOUG BAUM (dancer) – Los Angeles, CA – @doogbaum

DOUG BAUM began his dance training in Maryland at MCPA before graduating from the Baltimore School for the Arts in 2006. He received his BFA from Fordham University in 2010, in collaboration with The Ailey School, where he apprenticed with Ailey II and worked with world-renowned artists. Doug has performed professionally with Complexions Contemporary Ballet, Les Ballets Jazz, Rock the Ballet, Compagnie Flak, Company XIV, Zhukov Dance Theater, and LA Dance Project. Doug is currently an adjunct lecturer at USC Kaufman School of Dance, Loyola Marymount University, & Chapman University. He has taught for institutions including The Joffrey Ballet School, Broadway Dance Center, Jacob's Pillow, The Colburn School, OCSA, and Millenium Dance Complex. As a choreographer, Doug has created works for the Joffrey Summer intensives under Josie Walsh, in addition to BSA and other programs, exploring his artistic voice with diverse dancers.

MANDOLIN BURNS  (dancer) – Los Angeles, CA – @mandolinoelani

Mandolin Noelani Burns is an LA based, multidisciplinary artist & performer working across Dance & Film. Her work utilizes improvisation and virtuosic phrase-work as a tool to score performance. Drawing inspiration from the physical feats of wrestling and club culture, coupled with a practice that centers desire and care– she explores how endurance, risk, and intimacy can shape the body in states of heightened attention. Mandolin is a CalArts graduate, and co-founder of experimental performance venue CRAWLSPACE LA. Mandolin has presented two evening length collaborative shows at Highways Performance Space entitled “LOVERS PIECE” & “FREE ALL NIGHT LONG”, and was a featured artist in the artist run “WIP” series. She performed in the world premiere of “tell the truth and shame the devil” with dance company zoe | juniper in collaboration with the band Xiu Xiu. Recently she Choreographed & performed in Greece as part of a collaborative work created during the MUDHOUSE Residency.

TYLER CHANG (dancer) – Los Angeles, CA - @ tylerchxng

Tyler Chang is a Chinese-American multidisciplinary artist from New York City exploring the many intersections of dance. They began their training at LaGuardia High School—historcially becoming the first dance major to serve as class president—and continued their education at Broadway Dance Center, Ballet Hispánico, and MOVE|NYC|. At the USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance, Tyler has performed works by Kyle Abraham, Jiří Kylián, Christopher Wheeldon, Hope Boykin, Darrell Grand Moultrie, Shahar Binyamini and more, while also performing professional works by Thomas Ford and Steven Atwater. Their training further includes the school at Jacob’s Pillow, Springboard Danse Pittsburgh, Orsolina 28, Ballet Jazz Montréal 360, and as a 2025 Arnhold Summer Fellow. Beyond performance, Tyler engages in choreography, film, drag, music, and community work. Their short film i see received international recognition, and they served as the first Director of Multidisciplinary Events for Southern California Choreographic Collective.

FREEDA ELECTRA (dancer) – Los Angeles, CA – @Freedaelectra

Freeda Electra is a dancer, artist, and choreographer based between Los Angeles and New York. Originally from Catskill, New York, she holds a BFA in Dance from CalArts and has collaborated internationally with artists and choreographers, performing at venues and festivals including The Getty, the Venice Biennale, Frieze Los Angeles, New York Live Arts, CN D in Paris, and New York Fashion Week. She co-choreographed the 29-city North American tour for the artist Zheani and has danced for Lady Gaga, Charli XCX, Madonna, and The Rolling Stones. Electra performed in Anita Pace’s “Beat of the Traps”, a collaboration with Mike Kelley and Stephen Prina presented at MoMA, which was positively reviewed by The New York Times and Artforum and will be restaged at MOCA Los Angeles in fall 2026. She has been awarded residencies at Art Omi, The Watermill Center, and Venice Biennale Danza under the direction of Wayne McGregor. Alongside her commercial and concert work, Electra is developing a site-specific practice engaging urban and natural landscapes in Los Angeles.

LESTER GONZALEZ (dancer) – Los Angeles, CA - @lramos0416

Lester Gonzalez graduated from the National Ballet School of Havana, Cuba. In 2011, he joined the Ballet Laura Alonso as a company dancer. He later decided to emigrate to the United States with his siblings with the desire to expand his professional opportunities. Throughout his career, he has performed diverse roles from the classical and contemporary repertoire, including lead roles in Septime Webre’s the Great Gatsby and Fluctuating Hemlines. While dancing with Ballet San Antonio, he performed as Romeo in Edwaard Liang’s Romeo and Juliet. Lester has been featured in productions with the San Diego Opera, Los Angeles Opera, and the Lyric Opera of Chicago. He is also a former company dancer of the Dayton Ballet. In May of 2023, Lester debuted his first musical theater show with the North American tour of Anastasia. He is now a freelance dancer and co-founder of Pas De Deux Workshops & Coaching.

SEBASTIAN HERNANDEZ (dancer) – Los Angeles, CA - @brownskinhazel

Sebastian Hernandez (b. 1990, Los Angeles) is a multidisciplinary trans femme artist working across movement, performance, sculpture, photography, creative writing, and DJing. They hold B.A. degrees in Art Practice and Dance & Performance Studies from the University of California, Berkeley. Hernandez's work draws from feminist, queer, Indigenous, and gender theory frameworks to explore Mexican and Chicano identity, collectivity, and the complexities of the U.S.–Mexico borderlands. Rooted in personal narrative, Indigenous Mexica ancestry, and queer club culture, their movement practice is informed by danza Mexica (Azteca), Vogue, GAGA, Flying Low, Afro Modern, and other contemporary dance forms. Working both independently and collaboratively, Hernandez creates performances that examine queer kinship, embodiment, and cultural memory. Their work has been presented at REDCAT, MOCA Geffen Contemporary, ICA LA, LACE, Human Resources, Performance Space New York, Palm Springs Art Museum, and other venues. In 2020, they received the Rema Hort Mann Emerging Artist Award.

EDEN MAGANA (dancer) – Oakland, CA –

Eden Magana (she/her) a Chicago native, began her dance training at the Chicago Multi Dance Center under the guidance of Homer Bryant. She spent two years at the Chicago Academy for the Arts, under the artistic director of the dance department Randy Duncan. Eden spent her final two years of high school as a Conservatory student at the Joffrey Ballet, with Karin Elis-Wentz. During her time at the Joffrey Ballet, she originated the role of the Fountain in the original production of Rita Finds Home choreographed by Amy Hall-Garner. She graduated Alonzo King LINES Ballet Training Program in 2025 under the direction of Karah Abiog. Eden was also a company member of Robert Mosses Kin’s 60th Anniversary season during her second year. She is currently a company member with the Oakland ballet. She has attended summer intensives at American Ballet Theatre, Ballet West, and Dance Theatre of Harlem.

MARISSA MAHONEY (dancer) – Los Angeles, CA - @marissa_mahoneyy

Marissa Mahoney is a versatile artist, dancer, performer, and choreographer. She holds a BFA in Dance Performance and Choreography, a BA in Strategic Communications, and a minor in Creative Writing from Elon University.
 Marissa’s recent highlights include performances in HARVEST, LADF MATCH Festival, LUME Dance Collective’s DESOLATION, People Play Dance Theatre's PLAYSPACES, Open Floor Performing Arts Group’s "Stories of My Life", GREENLINE, CARNIVAL and more. As the founder of the dance collective RISSTHEMOVEMENT, she has created an extensive portfolio of work and was honored to perform in and to present original choreography at San Pedro Festival of the Arts, Pasadena Art Night, Brockus' 15 Year Celebration Choreography Contest (Winner), Mash Up Open Mic Night, ChoCoLA Spring Works, LA Women's Theatre 33rd Annual Festival, Versatility Dance Festival, NACHMO LA, Encounter LA, Brockus Red’s 2025 Winter Showcase, Chorea Festival, and many other prominent venues.

TAIYO MAKIMURA (dancer) – Oakland, CA

Taiyo Makimura (he/him) he began his high school career at the UCVTS Academy for Performing Arts in New Jersey and completed it at the Rock School for Dance Education in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Taiyo has performed as a trainee with BalletMet, where he could be seen as a swan in Edwaard Liang’s Swan Lake, in various roles in The Nutcracker, and in trainee productions. He later joined Louisville Ballet’s Studio Company, performing in ballets including Romeo & Juliet and Giselle, before moving to San Francisco in 2024 to become a member of the concluding class of the Alonzo King LINES Ballet Training Program. There, he had the privilege of working with the choreographers Sidra Bell, Robert Moses, and more. In the 2025-2026 season, he danced with the Oakland Ballet, where he toured Phil Chan's Ballets des Porcelaine and performed in the acclaimed Angel Island production.

LENA MARTIN (dancer) – Los Angeles, CA - @1enamartin

Lena Martin is an Arkansas born, German-American artist & performer with a focus in choreography and improvisation. Graduate of Calarts Dance and founder of experimental DIY performance space CRAWLSPACE LA. Her research explores catharsis, pageantry, and sometimes humor, and has been supported by residencies and festivals including Ghostlight Residency (LA), Le Centre National De La Danse (Paris), and Mudhouse Residency (Greece). She was a performer in Kensaku Shinohara’s piece, “tired music concert” in the 2024 NOW Festival. More recently she presented an evening length show at Highways Performance Space titled “FREE ALL NIGHT LONG” made in collaboration with the love of her life (Mandolin Burns). She’s really into making people laugh, she’s a little hick and is most happy when in a river.

LYDIA MCDONALD (dancer) – Glendale, CA - @lydiammarie

Lydia McDonald hails from Dallas, TX, and has trained extensively in styles such as contemporary, modern, ballet, acro, improvisation, jazz, hip hop, and musical theater. Lydia received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance with an emphasis in performance and choreography from the University of North Texas. Now based in Los Angeles, Lydia is in her second season dancing with MashUp Contemporary Dance Company. Lydia has appeared in dance films by Philip Chbeeb and Mackenzie Dustman, JA Collective, assisted in movement creation for a Marriott Bonvoy Hotel commercial with Madison Olandt, and most recently performed in Bon Iver’s music video “Day One”. Additionally, she has performed and trained with notable choreographers and companies such as Gigi Todisco, Mike Tyus, Erica Klein, Doug Varone and Dancers, Noble Motion, and more. Lydia is also passionate about choreographing for stage and film, and most recently presented work at Austin Dance Festival this year.

DALYA MODLIN (dancer) – Santa Monica, CA - @Dalyamodlin

Dalya Modlin is a Dancer and Choreographer based in Los Angeles. She graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a BFA in Dance and BS in Psychology. Originally from Southern California, she honed her skills at the Orange County School of the Arts Commercial Dance Conservatory. At UCSB Dalya toured with the Student Company across Europe and apprenticed with Santa Barbara Dance Theater. In August 2023 she became a company member of Santa Barbara Dance Theater. Her professional performance experience includes work by Helen Simoneau, Rosie Herrera, Brandon Whited, Brian Golden, and Gianna Burright. Additionally, she has performed with Limón Dance, and Benita Bike Dance Arts.

MADISON MOSER (dancer) – Los Angeles, CA - @madisonmmoser

Canadian-born artist, dancer, choreographer, and educator Madison Moser is known for her virtuosity, versatility, and fearless performance. Her professional career launched in 2023 as a performer in RZA’s A Ballet Through Mud with the Colorado Symphony. While earning her BFA in Dance at the California Institute of the Arts, Madison performed works by Trisha Brown, Spenser Theberge, Omar Román de Jesús, and Merce Cunningham, among others. Career highlights include appearing on Season 17 of So You Think You Can Dance and being named a summer intensive fellow with Hubbard Street Dance Chicago. Most recently, Madison contributed to the staging and creation of works presented at Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, BODYTRAFFIC, CLI Conservatory, and Loyola Marymount University. She is currently performing with Diavolo: Architecture in Motion. Blending classical and contemporary training with dance theatre and breaking, Madison brings a dynamic and powerful perspective to every performance.

CHANTEL MURPHY (dancer) – Los Angeles, CA - @chanteldancelife

Chantel Murphy originally from Santa Cruz, California, currently based in Los Angeles is a graduate from California Institute of the Arts receiving her BFA in dance. She is a dancer, performer, choreographer, artist, fashion forward, writer, party enthusiast, one could say actor as well. She has worked with many choreographers in the LA area and attended programs in New York, Marseille, Amsterdam, and the UK including six months with Jasmin Vardimon Company JV2 program. Performing at RedCat, galleries around LA, background dancing, and music videos. Her work is based on the ideas of opposites attract, anything could happen, lazy with class, flirtatious with some ballet, and the happiest struggle of your life. She is interested in vulnerability and uncomfortably for a performer and maybe even the audience.

PAKELA NEWALU-GOMES (dancer) – Oakland, CA

Pakela Newalu-Gomes was born in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi, and later earned a BFA in Dance from Dominican University of California under the direction of Marina Hotchkiss. While there, Pakela had the opportunity to work with Gregory Dawson’s dawsondancesf and James Graham’s Dance Theatre. After graduation, Pakela danced with Contemporary West Dance Theater under the direction of Bernard Gaddis, and later joined Post:ballet for the 2024–25 season led by Robin Dekkers. Pakela is currently a company member with Oakland Ballet Company under the leadership of Artistic Director Graham Lustig and Rehearsal Director Bat Abbit.

MADISON OSTRACH (dancer) – North Hollywood, CA - @madiooo_

Madison Ostrach is a freelance dancer based in Los Angeles and New York City, represented by talent agency GO2. A New York native, she trained at Peridance Center’s Youth Ensemble and Professional Semester and earned her BFA in dance from SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Dance, where she performed works by Roderick George, Peter Chu, and Connie Shiau. In Los Angeles, Madison has performed works by choreographers Jessie Lee Thorne, Madison Olandt, Mike Tyus, Charissa Kroeger, Erica Klein, and Sara Silken. She has danced in music videos for BLACKPINK and FINNEAS and appeared in the latest Bogle Wine campaign. Madison collaborates with visual artist Beck and Col and choreographer Brian Golden on site-specific and exhibition-based performances. She is a dancer with MashUp Contemporary Dance Company and maintains a versatile career spanning commercial, concert, and experimental projects.

SPENCER RAMIREZ (dancer) – West Hollywood, CA - @spencer.ramirez.la

Spencer Ramirez is a Los Angeles-based performer and graduate of The Juilliard School, where he performed works by Jerome Robbins, Sidra Bell, Fabian Prioville, and José Limón. He went on to join the Mark Morris Dance Group, touring internationally and performing alongside renowned artists including Mikhail Baryshnikov, Yo-Yo Ma, and Emanuel Ax. Since relocating to Los Angeles in 2014, Spencer has built a diverse career spanning musical theater, television, and commercial dance. His theater credits include The Muny, Tuacahn Amphitheatre, and Ogunquit Playhouse. On screen, he has appeared in Fuller House, Penny Dreadful, and Todrick Hall’s Nails, Hair, Hips, Heels. Recent credits include The Bridgerton Experience in Los Angeles and portraying Thor in Rogers: The Musical at Disneyland’s Hyperion Theater.

KYLE RUCKER (dancer) – Huntsville, TX - @kyyleeeeeeeeeee

Kyle Rucker is a choreographer, lighting designer, and dance filmmaker born in Los Angeles, CA and raised in Houston, TX. As a dancer, Kyle earned the opportunity to collaborate with exceptional choreographers like Adele Nickel, Colette Kerwick, and Netta Yerushalmy. In his time as an undergraduate, Kyle created numerous works and received the Outstanding Choreographer Award from Chi Tau Epsilon in 2023. After graduating with his BFA in Dance from Sam Houston State University in 2024, Kyle served as the resident Technical Director and Lighting Designer for the SHSU Department of Dance. MELISSA VALENZUELA (dancer) – Monterey Park, CA - @Melissavalenzuelaa

Melissa Valenzuela is an LA-native movement artist and educator. She began her early dance training at Elements Dance Space in Pasadena, California, where she competed in regional and national dance competitions. Melissa later earned her BFA in Dance, graduating magna cum laude from California State University, Long Beach in 2023. Following graduation, she attended Jacob's Pillow as part of the Ann and Weston Hicks Choreography Fellowship, performing works by Azuki Umeda. She has continued her professional training through programs including Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Springboard Montréal, FlockWorks, and JumpStart LA. Melissa is also a Stomping Ground L.A. scholarship recipient and currently performs with MashUp Contemporary Dance Company and Indigo Dance Company.

GIAN CARLO VARGAS (dancer) – San Diego, CA - @gian_9230

Gian Carlo Vargas, a graceful performer from Peru based in San Diego,Ca.
 He started doing ballet in his late teens despite of not having the physical ability. He joined the national ballet school of Peru and was selected to represent Peru in international dance festivals hosted in Poland and Peru. In the local scene, Gian Carlo has performed with several ballet schools in San Diego county and diverse companies such as San Diego Ballet, City ballet of San Diego, Ballet Collective SD, Lyric Opera OC and as a supra with American Ballet Theater.

HANNA TZONG-HAN WU (dancer) – Los Angeles, CA - @tzonghanwu

Hanna Tzong-Han Wu is a Taiwanese dancer and choreographer based in LA. Her recent creative and performance credits include Damiano David, New York Fashion Week, Coachella DesertX Festival, Calvin Klein, Jacob Jonas The Company, RGWW and more. As a choreographer, Wu develops movement languages that lie between contemporary dance, hip-hop, and martial arts. Her work explores the complexities of human nature while questioning the established system. Amongst others, Wu’s choreographic work has been presented at venues including Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, Museum of Arts and Design NYC, REDCAT, Beyond Baroque Theatre. Her dance films have been featured as Film of the Week on DANCEFILMMAKING.COM, and awarded globally in Sydney, Prague, Istanbul and more. Wu is currently a faculty choreographer at Cypress College, and guest choreographer at El Camino College. Wu holds a BFA in Dance and a MFA in Choreography, both from the California Institute of the Arts.

Jane Zogbi is originally from Raleigh, NC - Jane is now a Los Angeles based dance performance artist. A Point Park University graduate, Jane holds a BFA in dance with a musical theatre minor. Finding throughline between different genres of expression has led Jane to collaborate with various artists and organizations such as Christopher & Charlotte D'amboise, Terrence Mann, Sidra Bell, Tyce Diorio, Jae Man Joo, Michael Rupert, Anouk Van Dijk, John Carrafa, Mike Tyus, Luca Renzi, MASHUP Contemporary Dance, Invertigo Dance Theatre and BODYTRAFFIC.

Dj Lancia (DJ) – Los Angeles, CA - @djlancia

Dj Lancia is a Los Angeles based multi-talented DJ. She is respected for her seamless blends of music from various regions of the world. From an early age, Dj Lancia was raised on a diet of Funk, Latin Jazz, Hip-Hop and Disco. When left to her own devices, she discovered a love affair with electronic rhythmic music. Whether she is spinning at a private party or a large festival, Dj Lancia has the ability to read her audience and deliver a truly unique performance time after time. It is her versatility that has helped her attract the attention of night clubs and festivals around Los Angeles, Las Vegas and around the globe.

CYNTHIA HOWELL (referee) – Los Angeles, CA

Cynthia has had an extensive career in the industry, teaching multiple disciplines of dance over the past 25 years in Long Beach. She was a founding member of Mike Esperanza’s BARE Dance Company as well as dancer and choreographer for RhetOracle Dance Company under Director, Nate Hodges. She is thrilled to be part of the Discofoot cast, which bridges her love of dance and her more-recent 7-year journey as a soccer mom.

Partnership with neighboring cities to utilize Santa Monica Boulevard, historic Route 66, as a temporary public art corridor, in celebration of Route 66 100th year anniversary in 2026. Feature a series of artist designed street signs, site-specific public art installations, murals, and/or temporary art performances along historic Route 66, reflecting the themes of travel, connection, and cultural exchange – mirroring the Olympic spirit – in celebration of the 100th Anniversary of Route 66.

Three Route 66–themed public art projects are currently in development across West Hollywood. At Plummer Park, Sylke Meyer’s Past Tense / Future Perfect will transform the motion and mythology of Route 66 into a curved fiberglass camera obscura sculpture. At 8315 Santa Monica Boulevard, Luciana Abait’s Road Trip will reinterpret a Route 66 landscape through altered color, light, and texture as a vinyl mural storefront windows. Along Santa Monica Boulevard, Vinnie Hager’s Path Discovery will wrap street poles with vibrant vinyl designs centered on a customized WeHo Route 66 shield, featuring symbolic motifs that celebrate exploration, diversity, and the upcoming Route 66 Centennial.

 

The City is advancing a temporary basketball court mural at Plummer Park in celebration of major sporting events through 2028. On May 28, 2026, the Arts and Cultural Affairs Commission recommended Brendan Monroe’s design, which aims to visually transform the court surface using colors drawn from the City’s logo.

*During the installation period, an interactive coloring activity will invite park‑goers to design their own court murals, with community participation documented.

The City will host a Mural Festival to support temporary artworks on private businesses, a recommendation from the City Council approved 2024 Economic Study and recently adopted Rainbow District initiative. All murals installed in 2027 will remain on view through 2028.

A call for proposals will be issued to the Moving Image Media Art Program Prequalified List for artworks that are thematically aligned with the theme “Inventing Traditions.” The budget for this opportunity will align with the current budget available for the program.
