Buyepongo, and DJ Jeremy Sole

Sunday, July 27, 2025, 4PM
Latin, Global, World Music

Buyepongo 2019 Promo_Photo by Piero F Giunti847A3006 With deep roots in South and Central America, Buyepongo draws heavily from the Latino and Afro-Indigenous musical culture. Taking their cues from traditional "roots" music of Colombia, Haiti, Belize, Honduras, and the Dominican Republic, Buyepongo creates a very vibrant polyrhythmic sound by seamlessly fusing merengue, punta, cumbia and more! The group's pulse and power is built around the drum and guacharaca (pronounced: wah cha rah cah) giving them an upbeat tropical flare.

Jeremy Sole 3

Collecting vinyl from around the world for 30 years, Jeremy Sole’s DJ sets juxtapose global sounds into a sonic collage, blending or simply transcending genre, style, and tempo. Sole has shared stages with hundreds of his inspirations including Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan, and more. He was the last DJ to open for Ray Charles on his final concert tour, worked on music for a year with Lauryn Hill, and was enlisted by David Bowie to remix his 1976 classic Golden Years in Bowie’s final days. Sole is most widely known for his weekly KCRW radio show, now in its seventeenth year.
