28th Annual Disability Service Awards

The City of West Hollywood and its Disabilities Advisory Board are accepting nominations for the 28th Annual Disability Service Awards. The awards recognize individuals, businesses, nonprofit organizations, and media outlets that have made outstanding contributions to improving the lives of people with disabilities through accessibility, advocacy, and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

The 28th Annual Disability Service Awards will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. during a special televised meeting of the Disabilities Advisory Board in the City Council Chambers/Public Meeting Room, located at 625 N. San Vicente Boulevard, West Hollywood, CA 90069. For the complete list of the Service Awards Rules and Procedures please click here.

Nominations will open on July 1st, 2026 and will close on August 19th, 2026.

The City of West Hollywood will host its WeHo Rec Expo & Kids Fair on Saturday, May 3, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the West Hollywood Park Aquatic and Recreation Center, located at 8750 El Tovar Place, adjacent to West Hollywood Library. Activities will be held outdoors in the park as well as throughout the Aquatic and Recreation Center.

The Rec Expo & Kids Fair is free and open to the public. Those who attend will enjoy demos, giveaways, and exciting activities sure to be fun for the entire family. Attendees can also learn more about the City’s recreation programs, community services, local school and preschool programs, and events for children, adults, and older adults. Representatives from both the Sheriff’s and Fire departments will be onsite providing public education and information.

Parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis at the West Hollywood Park Five-Story Parking Structure, located at 625 N. San Vicente Boulevard, adjacent to West Hollywood Library.

The City of West Hollywood’s Lesbian Speakers Series began in the fall of 2015 and is a series of talks, performances, films and readings featuring phenomenal Lesbians and Queer Women.  All events are free and held at the West Hollywood City Council Chambers at 625 N. San Vicente Blvd. unless otherwise indicated.

Lesbian Speakers Series events have been organized in conjunction with collaborating partners including Mazer Lesbian Archives, Los Angeles LGBT Center/Audre Lorde Health Clinic, Sinister Wisdom, Lesbian Culture Club, Red Hen Press, Book Soup, the City's Arts Division and the City’s former Lesbian and Gay Advisory Board.

The City of West Hollywood recognizes the importance of education to our community and supports local students interested in pursuing their education beyond high school. The West Hollywood Youth Scholarship Program awards $2,000 to graduating high school students who are West Hollywood residents and have completed 150 hours of community service.

The West Hollywood Youth Scholarship Program application period will close May 29, 2026. The scholarship money can be used for any expense incurred in pursuing post-secondary education at an accredited college, university, or trade/vocational school.  To qualify for a youth scholarship, students must meet the following requirements:

• Residency – Applicant is a West Hollywood resident at the time the scholarship application is submitted and awarded. Please visit www.weho.org/city-government/contact-us/map-of-weho for a map of West Hollywood.
• Secondary Education – Applicant is a high school senior on target to graduate or individual receiving a GED.
• Post-Secondary Education – Applicant is planning to pursue post-secondary education and has proof of acceptance to a post-secondary institution.
• Community Service – Applicant has performed 150 hours of verified community service.

The City of West Hollywood’s Youth Scholarship Program is one of the first municipal government sponsored programs of its kind in the country.  The program is funded entirely by donations from the community.  To support the program, the City encourages donations from community members, organizations and area businesses.
